<< Background >>The project addressed crucial needs in adult education in Romania and Italy. The primary motivation was to bridge the digital skills gap among adult educators, focusing on visual literacy. The specific needs addressed by the project include:-Enhancing Digital Competencies: There was a clear need to enhance the digital skills of adult educators to keep pace with technological advancements. This includes the ability to create, interpret, and use visual media effectively in educational settings.-Improving Visual Literacy: Visual literacy is crucial in today’s education landscape. Educators needed training to better understand and convey visual information, which is essential for engaging adult learners and enhancing their learning experiences.-Innovative Teaching Methods: The project aimed to introduce innovative and modern teaching methodologies that incorporate visual communication. This approach is intended to make learning more engaging and effective, particularly for low-skilled adults.-Quality Learning Opportunities: There was a need to improve the availability of high-quality learning opportunities for adults. By training educators in visual literacy, the project aimed to raise the overall quality of adult education.<< Objectives >>By implementing the project, we aimed to enhance adult education in Romania and Italy. Our primary goal was to improve digital and visual literacy skills of adult educators, enabling effective use of modern educational tools.Objectives included:-Enhancing Digital Skills: Equipping educators with essential digital competencies to create and use visual content.-Promoting Visual Literacy: Increasing educators' ability to interpret and convey visual information, making learning more engaging.-Innovating Teaching Methods: Introducing and integrating innovative teaching practices leveraging visual communication.-Fostering Inclusive Education: Ensuring low-skilled adults and those with learning difficulties benefit from improved approaches.Additionally, we aimed to raise awareness of visual communication’s potential in delivering positive messages and combating prejudices. By providing a comprehensive training program, developing a Visual Literacy Manual, and creating online modules, we empowered educators to enhance their teaching practices. This initiative was designed to foster a more dynamic, inclusive, and effective adult education system, benefiting a broader range of learners and ensuring sustainable improvements.<< Implementation >>We implemented several comprehensive activities:Project Management and Implementation: Conducted 4 meetings, developed a Project Handbook, and set up a Google Drive for resource sharing. Established risk management and monitoring plans. Visual Literacy Training: Conducted national training sessions in Italy and Romania, emphasizing hands-on practice and interactive learning. Partners followed a unified methodology for participant selection, ensuring consistency in training delivery and assessment. Content Development: Created a detailed Visual Literacy Manual, outlining key concepts, practical exercises, and case studies. This was supplemented with Online training and visual tools to aid understanding and application. Dissemination Activities: Organized 2 dissemination events, shared project outcomes through social media, and participated to national and EU events to reach a wider audience. Utilized visual aids and presentations to enhance communication. Evaluation and Feedback: Implemented continuous assessment through surveys and feedback forms. Trainers evaluated participant progress & gathered insights to refine future training sessions. The activities included research, focus groups, interactive and online trainings etc<< Results >>The project achieved several concrete outputs and impactful results:Focus Groups: Organized focus groups in both countries, engaging 16 professionals to refine visual literacy strategies and provide valuable feedback.Visual Literacy Manual: Developed and published a comprehensive Visual Literacy Manual in three languages (RO, IT, EN), providing essential knowledge and tools for educators.Online Training Modules: Created and launched 7 online training videos, 7 dynamic PowerPoint slides and final self-evaluation test covering key concepts in visual literacy in 3 languages (EN, IT, RO)Training Programs: Conducted national training sessions in Italy & Romania, training 22 Adult Trainers. These sessions focused on digital & visual literacy skills through hands-on practice and interactive learning.Dissemination Events: Held dissemination events in Italy and Romania, reaching 114 participants, reaching thus 27 different adult education organizations in the partner countries, stakeholders, educators, and policymakers, showcasing the project's activities and results.Increased Awareness: Raised awareness about the significance of visual literacy in adult education through websites, & professional networks of trainers & educators.
