In this project researchers at Leiden University will work on the continued development of a new antibiotic known as EVG7. EVG7 possesses potent antibacterial activity against dangerous “superbugs” including drug-resistant pathogens like methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and vancomycin-resistant enterococci (VRE). This research will also establish whether EVG7 is safer than currently used antibiotics which often have unwanted side-effects.
