Urbanization is a major contributor to the decline of biodiversity, greenhouse gas emissions and impact of climate change. It calls for innovation in the use of building materials, the application of (native) green and new forms of urban governance. Nature-inclusive development offers opportunities for an integrated approach to current urban challenges such as biodiversity loss, climate mitigation through CO2-reduction, climate adaptation and mobility transition. Using three cases at three levels of scale, this project examines the obstacles and opportunities for a transition to nature-inclusive development in management and implementation, and which tools can be developed to accelerate the transition.
