This project investigated how conservation in crisis situations in Brazil, Indonesia and South Africa can lead to green violence and how this can possibly be prevented or reduced. The results of the project show that exceptional and violent situations are closely related to a growing intensification of the nexus between biodiversity conservation and destruction/extraction and how this takes diverse forms in different political and economic contexts. The project has helped to develop a new concept of convivial conservation to shape and push for much needed structural changes in conservation thinking and the conservation sector.
