SENSE Graduate Programme Complex Dynamics in Human-Environment Systems The SENSE Graduate Programme will offer an opportunity to a selected group of excellent MSc students to continue their scientific research ambitions in this challenging research field as PhD candidate on a subject of their own choice, supervised by an excellent professor of their own choice. In the framework of this programme twelve excellent MSc students (top 3%) will be selected in the first year of their MSc study out of about 400 participants in 13 relevant MSc courses related to this research theme offered by the SENSE partner institutes (see 2.1.2, Table 1). SENSE will offer these twelve selected MSc students a special programme, the SENSE Research Master Variant, dedicated to enhance their knowledge, interdisciplinary comprehension and research skills, to get acquainted with the research programmes of excellent SENSE research groups and to write their own PhD proposal. At the end of this special research master programme six PhD students will be selected to actually carry out their PhD research. These six PhD candidates will be financed for 2/3 by NWO funds and 1/3 by university funds. The students whose PhD proposals are not selected to be granted by the SENSE Graduate Programme will be guided to adjust their proposal for external funding opportunities and/or encouraged to apply for regular PhD positions within the SENSE Graduate School.
