Power to Gas (PtG) can contribute to the transition towards low-carbon energy systems by providing several kinds of flexibility services. These services may be related to the timing of low-carbon energy production (the so-called timing flexibility), the location of this production (so-called locational flexibility) and the type of users (so-called enduser flexibility). In the research projects conducted by the RUG team as part of the international SuperP2G project, the economic value of these various potential services are analysed. The researchers determined the conditions under which PtG as provider of flexibilty becomes profitable.
