We propose to organize a one-week Summer School, entitled: Perception, Action, and Control: Methods, Concepts, and Challenges, discussing how the interaction between perception and action is achieved, regulated and exploited. National and international faculty, with expertise in social, natural and clinical sciences, will train motivated MSc and starting PhD students on how to build bridges between various disciplines (sensorimotor integration, cognitive control, and social interaction) and how to apply different research approaches (computational modeling, behavioral studies, neurophysiological and neuroimaging methods). These disciplines and approaches usually belong to separate curricula. This summer school will promote their integration, promoting new ways of conceptualizing perception and action phenomena, and new lines of research to understand complex cerebral functions. Faculty lectures, journal clubs, hands-on computer exercises, demos and poster presentations will guide the daily program. The evenings will be reserved for poster preparation, discussions on ethics and professional skills, and social activities.
