The research concerns the question how adaptation to climate change programmes in Mozambique are interpreted, appreciated and acted upon by poor households building livelihoods in Mutarara District. Mozambique is one of the poorest countries and is severely affected by climate-relate disasters, especially floods and droughts. There is a strong national policy interest in climate-related disaster risk reduction strategies, and the Mozambican Red Cross (MRC) plays a key role in disaster preparedness and adaptation to climate change. The research is a collaboration of Wageningen Disaster Studies, Mondlane University, the Mozambican Red Cross and the Climate Centre of the Netherlands Red Cross.
