Analysing sustainable rainforest use: a new approach to quantify the sustainability of harvesting non-timber forest products in the Colombian Amazon

Harvesting non-timber forest products is crucial for indigenous people in the Colombian Amazon. As these products are often overexploited, harvest guidelines are required. We present a new, more robust, approach to evaluate sustainability using plant demographic studies. We then apply this approach to evaluate sustainable harvest of roots and exudates.
