Higher education institutions struggle with the challenge of adequately supporting professionals in the context of lifelong development. The tendency for professionals to become increasingly involved in innovative forms of learning for regular students, such as Challenge Based Learning (CBL), may offer an opportunity. In CBL, students learn by working with professionals on unknown solutions to complex real-life issues. Although every participant is given the opportunity to learn, CBL is designed for students, without much attention paid to possible learning outcomes for professionals. In this study we aim to discover to what extent professionals learn from participating in CBL interventions.
