Contrary to popular belief, Earth’s “lungs” are not just green—they are also blue. While forests play important roles in producing oxygen, the ocean is just as vital, supplying 50–80% of the oxygen we breathe today. Furthermore, about half of the world’s carbon is captured and stored in the ocean, thanks to tiny, photosynthetic marine microalgae. These extraordinary organisms not only convert CO₂ into oxygen but also produce valuable materials like nanostructured biosilica. This project aims to create and refine microalgae-based products for circular carbon capture and regenerative biomaterials, moving beyond research laboratories to product maturation and stakeholder engagement.
