The Higher School of Pedagogical and Technological Education (ASPETE) is a Greek higher education institution established in Athens in June 2002 (Law 3027/2002) as the universal successor of SELETE (the School for Vocational & Technological Education Officers). ASPETE is a self-governing legal entity under public law whose mission is to provide parallel technological and pedagogical education, to train high-quality teaching staff for technical and vocational secondary education, and to promote applied research in educational technology and pedagogy. Its undergraduate degrees (awarded after 10 academic semesters including thesis and internship) confer both the professional specialty equivalent to TEI and the right to teach in the corresponding secondary education specialty. ASPETE comprises departments such as the Pedagogical Department and Departments of Educational Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering, offers numerous postgraduate programmes since 2005, and operates from its main campus in Maroussi (Athens) while running programmes and branches in multiple cities across Greece.
